Ava Max is the performing name of Amanda Ava Koci, an American singer/songwriter and musician. She first gained prominence when her single ‘Sweet but Psycho’ reached number 1 in 22 countries. Today I’ll be talking about her single ‘Choose Your Fighter’ which was written for the soundtrack to the 2023 movie Barbie, with the song officially being released July 28th 2023. 

‘Choose Your Fighter’ kicks off immediately with the vocals, and man Ava Max is a tremendous vocalist, her voice rich and soulful and just absolutely breathtaking. This track has a powerful forward momentum, and a really solid percussive and bass driven beat, that creates an incredibly punchy and catchy pop ballad. I absolutely adore this track and I’ve probably listened to it at least a hundred times since I heard it on the Barbie soundtrack, but for such a lively and invigorating track, it still has a really powerful message about individuality and selecting your own path that really resonates with me as a listener.
