Ingrid Michaelson is an American musician and composer, noted for having scored songs for television shows such as Little Fires Everywhere and Tiny Beautiful Things. She also recently made her Broadway debut as a composer, writing the musical and lyrics for The Notebook, a musical adaptation of the Nicholas Sparks book of the same name. We’ve covered the artist before on Indie Light and you can click here to read more. Today, though, I’ll be reviewing her single ‘Backyard’ which was released June 28th 2024.

‘Backyard’ opens with bird song, and a building and swelling melody that evokes a Disney Princess song, it flows forward, softly and gently into Ingrid’s vocal performance, and compared to the last track I reviewed this is a whole different side to her voice, just as beautiful, but deeper and richer, but with that same captivating emotive thread that makes her such a phenomenal vocalist. This is the kind of track that makes me so immensely grateful to be running this site, because I get to talk about, boost and support vital and engaging performers like Ingrid.

So that’s what I thought of Ingrid Michaelson’s single ‘Backyard’ and you can check that out over on Spotify. While you’re at it, make sure and support the artist by following them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
