Lydia the Bard is the performing name of Lydia Buckley, a London based singer/songwriter and musician. She had gained significant attention on YouTube for her music videos, especially those related to Disney characters as Villains. Today I’ll be reviewing her single ‘Afraid of Quiet’ which was released May 14th 2024.

‘Afraid of Quiet’ opens fast, Lydia’s phenomenal voice breaks through immediately, light and emotive and yet powerful, and the instrumentals, equally light flow in slowly to support her absolutely breathtaking vocals. Her fast paced delivery style counterpointed at later sections by slower more melodic ones creates a really engaging balance to the melody. I cannot get over just how sensationally well developed and intricate this song is, and as an introduction to the artist it has ensure that I’ll be checking out her music in the future.
