Lily Potter is a massively talented singer/songwriter and musician from Oregon. We’ve had the pleasure of covering the artist before on Indie Light and you can click here to read more. Today I’ll be reviewing her single ‘Heartbroken’ which was released July 7th 2023.
‘Heartbroken’ opens slowly, with light acoustic strings, and the sound of a downpour, which bleeds into vocals, slightly distorted but nonetheless breathtaking. I really like the distorted elements of this song, sometimes it can mask the talents of the performers, but in this case it adds something to it, a disconnect that works surprisingly well. I like songs where you can just fade into the melody and experience it, and that’s the case here, just something light and simple, and yet profound and memorable at the same time.
