Carousel Clouds are a Salford based shoegaze/psych/alternative group. If you’re interested in finding out a little bit more about the band then you can click here to check out my interview with them. We have also been fortunate enough to cover the band before on Indie Light and you can click here to read more. Today, though, I’ll be reviewing their single ‘Skin and Bones’ which was released June 21st 2024.

‘Skin and Bones’ opens with light acoustic guitar, a soft and gentle melody flowing forward into the rich and melancholic vocals. I’m already reasonably familiar with the band, but it’s always a treat to hear such talented musicians. I like how it starts off slow and relatively stripped back, but the melody builds, the energy and the depth of the track just rising, I honestly got chills during this some, just some spectacular all around performances. There wasn’t a weak point on this stellar release from Carousel Clouds, but I would specifically like to mention the drummer who was absolutely top notch, throughout the entire track, he remains understated, not going full frenzy, but instead adding to and really creating the awesome beat that makes the latter half of the track so engaging.

So that’s what I thought of Carousel Clouds single ‘Skin and Bones’ which you can check out over on Spotify. While you’re at it, make sure and follow the band over on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
