Bea and her Business is the performing name of Bea Wheeler, a 20-Year-old self-taught British singer/songwriter and musician. She’s become enormously popular on TikTok and I came across her just a few weeks ago thanks to the algorithm gods being kind to me. Today I’ll be reviewing her EP ‘Me vs. Me’ which was released May 24th 2024.

‘Nightmare Being 19’ opens with gentle strings, a rich rhythm that flows into her sensational vocal Performance, her voice vulnerable and yet powerful. Returning to reviewing full time again in 2025 after an extended hiatus this was exactly what I needed. An awe inspiring track that just resonates so deeply regardless of your actual age.

‘Me Against My Head’ has a similar energy and back and forth upfront as the previous track, but instead of strings its the gentle melody of a piano that provides a backdrop to Bea’s phenomenal voice. The light percussion in the back half of the track adds in just the right amount of texture to the melody without distracting from the vocals.

‘Good Things’ has more energy, the transition Is smooth, as she moves towards a different mindset and you feel it and get caught up in the melody. I’m on record as saying I like more melancholic tunes but the beat and chorus hook of this track are really catchy and work for me.

‘Sunburnt Shoulders’ slows things down just a touch, softer after the last track with a delicate vocal harmony that blends with the guitars smoothly with the actual vocals, and in this track you get a different side to Bea’s voice, one that’s a little harder and deeper, but no less beautiful.

‘WOW!’ blends slower but building vocals with an energetic and very rhythmically built up beat. It transitions quickly into a funkier melody that works well with the overall quirky lyrics. I really enjoyed this track, a whole lot was going on but it wasn’t too scattered or offbeat. It’s incredibly close as there is not a weak track on the EP but I think this one might be my personal favourite on the release.

‘Too Loud (And That’s The Way I’m Going Out)’ closes out on a bittersweet note, another beautiful symphony of heartrending vocals and gentle piano that builds to a powerful crescendo, a lot of bigger energy accompanied by slower moments to counterpoint. An absolutely terrific ending to what has been a genuine treat to review.

So that’s what I thought of Bea and her Business’s EP ‘Me vs. Me’ which you can check out for yourself over on Spotify. While you’re at it, make sure and support the artist by following them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
