The Dals are a Los Angeles based, New Zealand born, brother/sister band, made up of Asti and Luca Newman, who alongside their lovely dalmatian, Luna the Tuna produce awesome beats. I came across them a few weeks ago on Instagram and now that I’m getting back to things I jumped on the opportunity to check out their music. Today I’ll be reviewing their single ‘Growing Pains’ which was released December 25th 2023.

‘Growing Pains’ opens with building electronic tones that blend into vocals, Asti has a dreamy voice, and you just get caught up in the energy and flow of the track. The percussive backing beat juxtaposes with the slower more melodic vocal delivery. It works really well. As I said, I happened upon the band on social media, and I’m so grateful that I did because they have a strong sound, vibrant with a lot of punch, but also softer, gentler moments to balance out the performance. Returning to the vocals again, they have this brightness and energy that makes them work even more, especially as the track itself is high tempo and big energy. Also there’s some superb drum work towards the end which elevates the track even further.

So that’s what I thought of The Dals single ‘Growing Pains’ and if you want to check that out for yourself then head on over to Spotify. While you’re at it make sure and support the band by following them on Facebook and Instagram
