Debbie Campbell is a Prestwick based singer/songwriter and musician, and an absolute delight, who we’ve had the pleasure of featuring on Indie Light before and if you’re interested you can click here to read more. For those unfamiliar with her, she released her debut album back in October 2023 and has been going from strength to strength ever since. Most recently, she was in the running for the ‘Song for Glasgow’ competition, run by Glasgow Life and Go Radio where she placed in the top 10. It is her entry ‘Under a Glasgow Sky’ which was released May 24th 2023 and features a collaboration between Debbie, her partner and lyricist Robert Neil, and the melodic talents of Scott Nicol that we will be discussing today.

‘Under a Glasgow Sky’ kicks off fast, with plenty of energy, the fast paced guitar injecting a warmth and good feeling into the melody, and Debbie absolutely knocks it out of the park, with an amazing vocal performance that just captivates you as a listener. I listened to the winning entry of the track and while it’s a great single, I cannot believe that ‘Under a Glasgow Sky’ didn’t win. Because it has heart, authenticity, vitality and between Scott Nicol’s melody, Robert Neil’s songwriting and Debbie’s absolutely sensational and heartfelt vocals it’s an absolute tune!

So that’s what I thought of Debbie Campbell’s single ‘Under a Glasgow Sky’ and if you want to check that out for yourself then head on over to Spotify. While you’re at it, make sure and support the artist by following them on Facebook and Instagram
