Lilith Max is a singer/songwriter and musician from Germany. An avid performer, she has also acted professionally in numerous projects. Today though we are focusing on her music career, where I’ll be reviewing her EP ‘Storybook’ which was released November 4th 2022.

‘Big Bad Wolf’ opens with Lilith Max’s breathtaking vocals, very fitting thematically but she has the voice of a fairy tale princess. Her voice fills you up, and as she pushes forward, the momentum building I am just blown away by the depth and gravity of her performance. I love doing this job because I get to hear so many different types of musicians, but when they are so phenomenally talented like Lilith is, it’s even more worth it.

‘Sacrifice’ opens fast, the vocals kicking in immediately, and again I am just in awe of her voice, a piercing bell of pure spectacular bliss. This track incorporates richly textured instrumentals, it bolsters her voice even further, and makes something truly transcendent. Even something simple like the percussive clapping that is scattered throughout serves to make the track even more impressive.

‘Ice Age’ shows a different side to Lilith’s vocals, more sustained and ethereal, and all together just as powerful and beautiful as before. I adore the narrative of each of these tracks, I tend towards talking about how I experienced the music, how it makes me feel, and what I hear, but occasionally I’m so caught up in the story being told I need to mention it.

‘Champagne & Cigarettes’ blends in light percussion and sumptuous piano chords, with more of Lilith’s trademark vocals, a powerful, theatrical singing style that just absolutely takes over. I can imagine her taking Broadway by storm, or filling concert halls with her rich and vibrant and phenomenal voice. It’s so incredibly close as there are no weak entries on this EP but I think this track might be my favourite, I think it’s just that little bit darker and heavier, with the right amount of intensity.

‘The Cautionary Tale’ is another breathtaking performance, so profound that I took a moment after listening to it, just to just let it rest. This has some truly superb instrumental accompaniments, including if I’m not mistaken, a violin, and the delicate vibrato of the instrument is a perfect partner to Lilith’s voice.

So that’s what I thought of Lilith Max’s EP ‘Storybook’ and you can check that out for yourself on Spotify. While you’re at it, make sure to support the artist over on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
