Earlier this month Tori B Bearly and I attended our second big event as a vendor, namely ACME Comic Con Dundee. It was a fantastic day, made better by our table mates, on our left was Becky T Arts who we’ve also talked about, and on our right is Zombie Chan who we’ll be talking about right now.

She was super cool to talk to, we had a really nice conversation about art and finding your bliss through creation, and how you go about injecting emotion into your creations. I really enjoyed chatting with them, and now I’m even happier to talk a little about their art.

Zombie Chan’s art tends towards a darker aesthetic overall, and is most certainly fantasy inspired, but what I admire most about her art, other than the obvious talent and passion that goes into it, is how well she manages to portray feelings through the subjects of her portraits. Of the three I selected below, I’m particularly drawn to the image on the left, the lightness and the hope and peacefulness of the image is very real and evocative.

I follow a lot of artists, but very few of them focus on human subjects, usually they make cute little bears, or goofy little rats or something, so perhaps because of that I’m particularly drawn to Zombie Chan’s designs, but even if that’s the case you cannot help but admire her tremendous skill. In fact I wanted to share some pieces inspired by characters from popular franchises, specifically Miguel O’Hara and Wednesday Addams. Both are striking images, which perfectly capture the vibe, energy and feel of the characters perfectly, in addition to being absolutely beautiful.

At their stall, in addition to the prints and designs like I’ve shown above, they also had a really nice mix of items, like enamel pins, key rings, necklaces and some awesome desk mats.

If you like Zombie Chan’s art and would like to see more then why not follow them on Instagram. You can also support the artist, and potentially commission your own design over on Ko-Fi.
