Slowmove are an alt-rock group composed of Becca on Vocals, David on Bass/Vocals, Lukas on Guitar, Joe on Guitars and Matt on Drums. The members hail from Glasgow, Edinburgh and the surrounding areas. I’ve reviewed the band previously, and if you’re interested you can check that out by clicking here. Today, though, I’ll be reviewing their single ‘Wish You Never’ which was released March 18th 2024.
‘Wish You Never’ hammers forward, very drum heavy, a frenzied and heavy beat that just absolutely kicks ass. I’m guilty of sometimes focusing unintentionally more on the vocalist when writing these reviews, but seriously with stellar performances all around from the entire group it’s very easy to talk about specific sections that worked really well. Much like their other recent release, this has a dark and heavy melody, and it matches the tone as Becca performs, her voice has a nice energy and cadence, and it works well within the context of the track. Sometimes vocals can get washed out, especially if you’ve got someone absolutely shredding on the guitar, or pounding on the drums, but instead they play off one another and the result is something great. Becca is joined on this track by male vocals, and they balance Becca’s out really well, adding a different quality to the overall mix.
So that’s what I thought of Slowmove’s single ‘Wish You Never’ and if you want to check that out for yourself then head on over to Spotify. While you’re at it, make sure and support the band by following them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
