Sophie Truax is a Los Angeles based singer/songwriter and musician, who has been lighting up my feed for several months now, and I finally decided to sit down and actually review their music. Today I’ll be reviewing her single ‘Toothpick’ which was released October 25th 2023. 

‘Toothpick’ opens with lively acoustic guitars that bleed into Sophie’s soulful and breathtaking vocals, their voice pure and atmospheric, in a way that just fills you up. I really like the harder bass, adding texture and weight to her lighter, softer vocals. The explosion of energy counterpointed by the slower softer sections really works well. This song is so catchy as well, the hook is super popular on social media but the entire track just has that lasting, memorable quality that makes it linger in your mind. I am absolutely blown away by this powerful single, and I’m eager to check out more from Sophie as they are an amazingly talented musician, who’s created a vibrant and engaging track that is sure to be on repeat for me for the foreseeable future.
