AJR are an American indie pop outfit, made up of vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist brothers; Adam, Jack and Ryan Met. They first reached mainstream success back in 2013 with the release of ‘I’m Ready’ and have continued to grow their audience ever since, with perhaps one of their most popular tracks ‘World’s Smallest Violin’ being released back in 2021. Today, though, I’ll be reviewing their single ‘Yes I’m a Mess’ which was released September 29th 2023.
‘Yes I’m a Mess’ kicks off with a highly charged and building acoustic percussion and whistling that builds and blends together creating a really strong tune that flows and works well with the superb vocal talents of the brothers. I love the energy, the vibrancy and yet the core simplicity of the melody and as with previous tracks by the group, I was just swept away by the engaging lyricism and powerful engaging beats. I’m sure you’ll already be aware of the group but with whatever platform and audience I have I need to…I have to urge you to check out AJR because this track, much like their entire discography is phenomenal and I cannot overstate how much you’re missing out if you haven’t heard their music.
So that’s what I thought of AJR’s single ‘Yes I’m a Mess’ and if you want to check that out for yourself then head on over to Spotify. While you’re at it, make sure and support the band by following them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
