I first came across Slater towards the end of last year, after I spent several weeks slowly tweaking my Instagram feed suggestions, so that I was seeing things that I actually wanted so see. I came across the advert for his latest song and eagerly checked it out. Today, I’ll be reviewing his single ‘Girl By The Poolside’ which was released November 9th 2023.

‘Girl By The Poolside’ opens with light guitar that just immediately fills you up, it blends perfectly with Slater’s rich, wholesome and melancholic vocals. It’s very cold where I am right now, but this song is like a warm embrace, bittersweet and yet rewarding. I’m glad that I happened upon his music because he crafts beautiful atmospheric melodies that just resonate with you as the listener. I honestly think I could listen to this on repeat for hours, it’s not just that the vocals are top notch, but the simple and yet impactful instrumental backing really sticks in your head. I strongly urge you to check out this track for yourself, because I guarantee you won’t regret it.
