AZRA is the performing name of Clara Lee, a Los Angeles based singer/songwriter, musician and author, who produces bold and empowering pop rock music, which is guaranteed to send you to the 6th Dimension, a place of AZRA’s own creation that allows their listeners to shape their own reality through their desires. Today I’ll be reviewing their single ‘OUTRAGEOUS’ which was released November 17th 2023.

‘OUTRAGEOUS’ opens fast, high energy strings that blend in some subtle percussion to flesh out and add complexity to the melody, and then AZRA’s vocals kick in and they have an intensity and rawness that’s really refreshing, the balance between the more frenzied high energy sections and the slower sections really works well. The strings provide a consistent beat throughout, something to focus on as the overall melody just hammers forward. I hadn’t heard of the artist prior to the algorithm gods putting them on my feed over on Instagram but I’m so glad they did because they have a genuine talent for performance and crafting richly textured and exciting performances, perhaps the only downside is that I’d love to see them perform live, and that’s not currently an option, but with a tremendous back catalogue I’m eager to hear more from AZRA one way or another, because this daring and energetic track has really got me hooked.
