Solene Velvet, known more commonly just as Solene is a Los Angeles based Cyber Jazz artist. They first popped up on my feed a few weeks ago when I saw this reel of theirs, and as a big fan of Jazz, and experimental music my interest was piqued, and after checking out a few more of their videos I was charmed enough to sit down and write something. We’ve actually covered Solene before on Indie Light, and you can click here to read more. Today, I’ll be reviewing her single ‘Runnin’ which was released October 6th 2023.
‘Runnin’ opens with big vibrant sounds, and it’s not at all what I would have expected, but it’s pure and emotional, the melody is quirky but it sticks in your head, the tones and instrumental backing something busy against the vocals, but then they break and slow, the song is relatively short clocking in at just under 2 minutes long but but with it’s offbeat style and ambient melodic structure it’s nonetheless something worth listening to, and as I said my interest has been captured, and I plant to check out more from the artist very soon.
So that’s what I thought of Solene’s single ‘Runnin’ and you can check that out for yourself over on Spotify. While you’re at it, make sure and support the artist by following them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
