Indie Light

Shelby Merry is an American singer/songwriter, musician, composer and author from Ohio. She’s someone I greatly admire as an artist, and as such we’ve covered her several times before on Indie Light, and you can click here to read more. Today, though, I’ll be reviewing her single ‘Bread Crumbs’ which was released June 2nd 2023.

‘Bread Crumbs’ starts off slowly, acoustic guitar leading us forward, and then Merry’s voice positively explodes in, just breathtaking in her sincerity, there’s a richness and depth to her voice which really helps to sell it as well. This track has plenty of energy, you feel Merry’s fierceness and directness throughout the track, and for 2 minutes and 49 seconds you’re just enveloped in the vitality and honesty of the track. I’ll admit I enjoy getting to check out my favourite artists on the site, but I’ve always tried to be honest and forthright with my reviews, and never just share useless platitudes. I mean what would be the point? So I’m so glad that Merry has really gone from strength to strength with each release, because it means I get to continue to positively spotlight a musician who has helped me through hard times and who I strongly feel you should all hear.
