Penny Mob are an alt-Indie Rock trio made up of Glasgow born Jamie Quinn on Guitar/Vocals, London based Jay Luther on Bass/Vocals and Lincolnshire born Andrew Mullan on Drums/Vocals. I’ve reviewed the trio previously, and you can click here to read more. Today I’ll be reviewing their single ‘Addicted’ which was released November 3rd 2023.
‘Addicted’ opens with dark, energetic strings, building, and then a fast and frenzied, but consistent percussive beat builds, before breaking and slowing, keeping the dark, heavy vibe, and Quinn is on top form, I mentioned in my review of their previous release that his voice suited levity quite well but equally this shows his capacity for depth and emotive projection, the result is a phenomenally well composed track thats deep and emotional. I knew I’d like this release because I’ve been consistently impressed with Penny Mob since I first heard them but this was amazing, so powerful and engaging, and I foresee many replays in my future, because it just works, a synchronicity of musical talent, lyricism and meaning that create something that I won’t soon forget.
So that’s what I thought of Penny Mob’s single ‘Addicted’ and if you want to check that out for yourself then head on over to Spotify. While you’re at it, make sure and support the band by following them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
