Shelby Merry is an Ohio born composer, singer/songwriter and musician, who I’ve been fortunate enough to talk about a few times before on the site, which you can check out here if you’re interested. Today though, I’ll be reviewing her single ‘Little Dreams’ which was released on March 24th 2023.
‘Little Dreams’ opens with two different tones, one faster, one slower, building and creating a pure and serene melody upon which Merry’s vocals flow forward. I mentioned in another review that I’d taken something of an unofficial hiatus from the site, i hadn’t really listened to anything really but I do remember hearing this a few months ago and really vibing with it but not realising it was Merry, so I guess even when I don’t know it’s them they still have the capacity to absolutely blow me away. Because this track with its driving, building energy and melody punctuated by heartfelt depth of emotion and delivery just cuts right to your core. Unlike the track I reviewed yesterday I didn’t come into this one totally blind because as I said I’d heard it before, but it didn’t really change how I felt, maybe this one was more like the feeling of something half remembered, because my memory is absolutely terrible, but the notes and feelings of this track lingered in the back of my head for months, so maybe that says something about this song.
So that’s what I thought of Shelby Merry’s single ‘Little Dreams’ and if you want to check that out for yourself then head on over to Spotify. While you’re at it, why not show support for the artist by following them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Don’t forget to check out Merry’s store, for some awesome merch as well.
