Conan Gray is an American singer/songwriter, musician and YouTuber from Lemon Grove, California. It was as a YouTuber that he first gained recognition, releasing a variety of vlogs and cover songs. He eventually started releasing his own original material, which was noticed, and in 2018 he was signed to a record deal with Republic Records. Today, I’ll be reviewing his single ‘Never Ending Song’ which was released May 19th 2023.

‘Never Ending Song’ comes in fast, explosive percussion that just hammers you, even as the vibrant, uplifting synth infused melody blends in, Gray’s voice is strong and emotive, you fall deeply into his performance, and just get caught up in the richly textured rhythm of the track. This song is so catchy, it just plants itself firmly in your head, the bouncing chorus, counterpointed by the deeper percussive elements to create a song that’s complex and memorable and in the end something that’s been added to a surprisingly small list of songs that i’ll keep with me, through good and bad, just sheer musical perfection that makes me grateful I get to call this my job. I hadn’t really heard anything from the artist prior to listening to this track but having heard what he’s capable of, I am certain I’ll be keeping an eye out for Gray in the future because this was an incredible track, and I’m glad to have heard it.
