MDMP are an alt-rock outfit from Nanakuli, Hawaii. Formed by singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer Jeremy Meyer, who is the only full time member of the band. He adds on additional musical talents as and when it is required, because Meyer strongly believes in the collaborative power of music. Today, I’ll be reviewing his track ‘Stranger Things’ which speaks to all those who feel like they don’t quite fit in. The track features a collaboration with guitarist, Mike Evan (from Bristol based Metal band Profiler) and drummer, Kellii Scott (from Los Angeles based alt rock band Failure) and was released October 21st 2023.
‘Stranger Things’ opens with some superb percussion and bass that build to a phenomenal clashing frenzy, the vocals are more subdued off the bat, softer, and mournful, but they counterpoint the heavier instrumentals really well. I knew upfront that this song was going to be powerful, but it has a relentless energy, and a tremendous, cacophonous, powerful driving backing that just captures you and refuses to let you go. I’ve never heard MDMP before, nor either of the contributing musicians but after this loud, trashing, and alarming profound track, I’ll be sure to keep an eye out for them in the future because while it’s been a while since my gigging days this track is one of those raw songs that is perfect for a live experience, because even recorded you can feel the palpable frenzy inducing energy that surges from it. Seriously check this out, because it’s more than worth it.
So that’s what I thought of MDMP’s single ‘Stranger Things’ and if you want to check that out for yourself then head on over to Spotify. While you’re at it, make sure and support the band by following them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
