Crush Club are a Los Angeles based Electro Disco House duo composed of TC Milan and Le Chev. Today I will be reviewing their EP ‘The Sun’ which was released November 10th 2023.

‘Sunshine’ opens with a fast and funky electro infused melody, that flows into an even faster, percussive beat infused track that perfectly supports the vocal contributions. It’s a very busy track, but it has lighter moments that help to balance it out, and act as a counterpoint. I really like the whole vibe of this track, it’s bright, which is very fitting considering the title of the track and the EP, and it’s just fresh and invigorating and you’re just filled up by the energy and momentum of the track. A truly excellent first entry on what I’m sure is going to be a superb EP.

‘Galaxy Man’ opens with synthy chimes and a faster percussive beat that blend into the vocals, and TC Milan’s voice is light and uplifting and pure, they work perfectly in tandem with the melody and beat of the track. I said in a recent review of House of Seb’s new single, that House and Disco music are both a bit of a blind spot for me musically, not something I can’t appreciate, just something I haven’t heard enough to really form an opinion and I worry I’m being a bit spoiled because both House of Seb, and now Crush Club has delivered excellent first examples that have really swayed me to the genre. While the EP has no weak spots, I think just because of the catchy beat, the energy and rhythm, that this track is my personal favourite.

‘Flame’ has Spanish inspired guitars, leading us in, building, before a heavier, percussive electronic beat replaces it, once again supporting Milan’s amazing voice. I like the balance between natural vocals, and synth infused delivery, much like the first track on this EP which blended faster and slower elements well to create a balance, this captures a nice balance in vocal delivery to really keep your attention. I liked the beat on this one a lot, overall simple, but it worked really well, keeping a nice momentum during the extended vocal sections, and providing a nice counterpoint between the slower more melodic vocals and the faster rhythm underneath.

‘Dreams’ has a quirkier opening than the previous three entries but one that I enjoyed a lot, you hear the sounds of insect life at night, crickets chirping and other such things, but beneath that and eventually replacing it, a building electronic humming melody, that intertwines with Milan’s voice, which goes from strength to strength during this production because this is an incredible performance on what has already been an incredible release. I loved the blend of faster paced energy and slower more melodic elements in this track, all together it closes out the EP really well and makes me eager to hear more from Crush Club in the future.

So that’s what I thought of Crush Club’s EP ‘The Sun’ and if you want to check that out for yourself then head on over to Spotify. While you’re at it, make sure and support the band by following them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
