House of Seb is an Electronic and House music producer from the South of France, he cites Frankie Knuckles, Mike Dunn, and Jamie Principle as particular influences to his unique brand of music. Today I’ll be reviewing his single ‘Attention’ which was released October 12th 2023.

‘Attention’ opens with clock tones, like an old grandfather clock going off, with a whispering voice saying the name of the track. That transitions into a tight percussive electronic beat, that has a nice energy to it. I’ll admit right off the bat that this genre is not my forte, I grew up listening to rap through my brothers, and I’ve heard about every combination of rock, metal, indie, alt or pop you care to name, especially after five years at this job but this type of electronic/house music is something of a blindspot for me, which is why I was so eager to check it out, and while I don’t have a real frame of reference for it when compared to other artists in the same genre, I can say I like it. It’s a tonally consistent track, a nice beat, catchy and a little quirky. I can say House of Seb has a very particular style, he used beat and melody really well and especially considering my lack of foreknowledge on the artist or genre I found myself really enjoying the song, and I’d very much like to hear more from the artist because ‘Attention’ is solidly composed and easy to take in for a newcomer.

So that’s what I thought of House of Seb’s single ‘Attention’ and if you want to check that out for yourself then head on over to Spotify. While you’re at it, make sure and show support for the artist by following them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
