Spunsugar are an alternative rock trio from Malmö, Sweden made up of Cordelia Moreau on Lead Guitar, Elin Ramstedt on Lead Vocals & Rhythm Guitar and Felix Sjöström on Bass. Spunsugar also draw influence from the shoegaze genre, but usually performed at a higher tempo. Today I’ll be reviewing their single ‘White Sneakers’ which was released November 3rd 2023.

‘White Sneakers’ has a nice synthy intro that builds well, a compact rhythmic structure that bleeds into some powerful strings, and deep, powerful vocals that just draw you in and keep you listening as you fall into its depths. I really liked the frenzied, percussive elements, they really tied things together, blending into the melody and the vocals, creating a rich musical construct. I love how fast and heavy the track becomes without also becoming overwhelming, instead the pace of the song feels totally natural and becomes another part of what makes it worth listening to.
