Elijah Woods is an award winning singer-songwriter from Ontario, Canada, who gained prominence via TikTok back in 2020. He is also noted for being a member of the pop duo Elijah Woods x Jamie Fine which performed from 2014 to 2020, until the pair mutually decided to part ways to focus on solo projects, and with both artists respectively finding success in their solo careers. Featured on this track alongside Elijah Woods is Mackenzie Porter, a Canada born, Nashville based musician and singer-songwriter who has been making waves in the music industry with releases such as ‘Pickup’ or ‘These Days’. Today I’ll be reviewing Elijah Woods single ‘Last Girl’ which was released November 3rd 2023. 

‘Last Girl (ft. Mackenzie Porter)’ opens with Woods’ sensational vocals, rich and deep and melodious, backed up with soft acoustic guitar, creating an uplifting and vibrant tune. The light percussion adds a little extra depth and texture to the simple but poignant melody. Mackenzie’s vocals likewise add a lot to the mix, bright and pure and soulful, she fills up the track, and adds a wonderful counterpoint and balance to Woods voice. The consistent chords throughout really help to tie the track together, ambient and powerful, they create a nice structure around which the entire track just grabs your attention and doesn’t let go. It’s my first time hearing both artists but after today I’ll be sure to keep my eye out for the pair as they make music that’s worth listening to.
