Thundermoon are a synth wave, Electro-Queer trio from Edinburgh made up of K. Messer on Guitar/Synth/Backing Vocals, Shaz Jamieson on Keys/Vocals and Lorna Kelly on Bass/Vocals/Drum Machine. Today I’ll be reviewing their debut single ‘Wild’ which was released on July 28th 2023.

‘Wild’ opens with a synth powered percussive beat that quickly blends into a wider electronic melody, vibrant tones held and dropped, and big beats infused to create a solid instrumental backing. The vocals kick in, the first vocalist has a strong presence, their voice merges really well with the synthy backing, even as the distorted and building tones become more prominent. This is a surprisingly slow song, the vocals, the melody are all mid tempo, not too slow, but not too fast, it works really well for the track, just a solid and engaging track that just builds and fills you up as you listen to it. I always love supporting home grown talent, even if we do ‘write about the world’ but yeah it’s always good to hear some Scottish music, and it’s even better when they create amazing dreamy, electronic tunes like this that just make you fall in love with the amazing things people can create. I will admit out of the three reviews going up today (including this one) I probably listened to this one the most, because you just kind of get lost in the melody. I cannot wait to hear more from the band, and I’m sure before long you’ll all love Thundermoon!

So that’s what I thought of Thundermoon’s single ‘Wild’ and if you want to check that out for yourself then head on over to Spotify. While you’re at it, make sure and support the band by following them on Instagram.
