Jonah Kagen is a 22-year old singer/songwriter and musician. He is originally from Savannah, Georgia, but is now based in Los Angeles, California. He first began his journey as a musician after his grandfather, a Jazz musician, introduced him to the music. He subsequently further developed his interest, after seeing performances by highly technical guitar player, Andy McKee. Today, I will be reviewing Jonah’s single ‘Graveyard Shift’ which was released October 28th 2022.

‘Graveyard Shift’ kicks off with vocals, backed up by a fusion of guitar elements built upon one another, it creates a really textured audio experience, which when backed up by percussion really gives the track some weight, and this is balanced out by Kagen’s voice which is quite soft and melancholic. Speaking of which, I love his vocals, his delivery is really something else, and yet despite having a more melodic style of singing, he’s never at risk of being overpowered by the heavier, faster instrumental backing. I really liked this track, it kind of gets in your head, I’ve had it on the board to review for a few days now, and I listen to tracks a lot before reviewing (unless I’m under a tight deadline) and I could not get this one out of my head.
