Stephanie Davis is an English actress and singer/songwriter from Merseyside. She is perhaps best known for her role as Sinead O’Connor on the channel 4 soap opera, Hollyoaks. Today, though, I’ll be reviewing her debut single ‘Lights Out’ which was released February 21st 2020.
‘Lights Out’ opens with hard and heavy piano chords that create a sturdy rhythmic platform for Davis’s stunning vocals, her voice deep and rich and sultry and honestly sensational. She blends perfectly with the piano melody creating a really textured feel to the song. I loved the vocal undertones, slightly synth infused but all together it all combines really well to create an incredible performance. I cannot believe how strong an entry this is for a debut single, I know she has previous performance experience as she competed on ‘Over the Rainbow’ but this is a whole other level, and I really hope that Davis keeps making music because this honestly blew me away. It’s not just that she has a nice voice, or she really knocks it out of the park with this performance, but it’s the vocal control, the range of her voice and the lyricism, all combines with strong backing instrumentals that make for such an amazing number, that you need to check out right now if you haven’t already.
So that’s what I thought of Stephanie Davis’s single ‘Lights Out’ and if you want to check that out for yourself then head on over to Spotify. While you’re at it, make sure and support the artist by following them on Instagram.
