Sasha Pieterse is a South African born actress, singer/songwriter and musician. She is probably most well known for her role as Alison DiLaurentis, on the Freeform series, Pretty Little Liars. While I remember, I’ve had the pleasure of reviewing her PLL co-star, Tyler Blackburn’s music as well, and you can click here to check that out if you’re interested. Today, though, I’ll be reviewing Sasha Pieterse’s single ‘R.P.M’ which was released June 13th 2013.

‘R.P.M’ opens fast and hard, with high energy, strings, a fusion of melody and drive that just immediately captures you as a listener, it blends out just slightly as Pieterse’s vocals kick in, but the ebb and flow of the hard melody provides a fairly consistent backdrop throughout. I like that it’s not just guitars and bass either, there’s something that I think is a violin, and as anyone who reads these regularly will tell you I love little extras like that, it really adds a lot of complexity and audio texture. Anyway, vocally, Sasha really shines, she’s got a strong and energetic voice, and while the backing is powerful and threatens to overwhelm, she holds her own, her vocals richly layered on top. It’s a really impressive song, that’s already so polished even though she’s still just getting started as a musician. I really enjoyed this track, and would really like to hear more from the artist as she’s got real talent.

So that’s what I thought of Sasha Pieterse’s single ‘R.P.M’ and if you want to check that out for yourself then head on over to Spotify. While you’re at it, make sure and support the artist by following them on Facebook and Instagram
