Noah Guthrie is an singer/songwriter and musician from South Carolina who performs his own unique brand of Americana/Country music. He first came to my attention back in 2015 when he starred as Roderick Meeks on the Fox musical comedy-drama, Glee. He made his debut in season 6, episode 2 entitled ‘Homecoming’ where he first performed the track we will be talking about today. Which reminds me, as I mentioned above, we will be reviewing his cover of ‘Viva Voce’ by The Rocketboys which he officially released on his YouTube channel on December 7th 2020.
‘Viva Voce’ So first off this is very different both to his original performance of the track on Glee, and also the original artist, his voice has grown and matured and he has a heavier bass to it that brings a different vibe to this rendition. I like Noah Guthrie, he seems like a really great guy, and he’s obviously a fabulously talented musician, so its no surprise he knocks it out of the park with this one. So soulful and deep and you just get totally lost in the energy and the soft vibrato of his particular cadence. I love the original song, but partly because I heard Noah’s performance on Glee first, and because of the stripped down acoustic guitar of this particular version, it just kind of hit different. He’s truly just a sensation as he belts out each note, and you just get lost in the music.
So that’s what I thought of Noah Guthrie’s cover of ‘Viva Voce’ by The Rocketboys and if you want to check that out for yourself then head on over to YouTube. While you’re at it, make sure and support the artist by following them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
