Laufey Lín Jónsdottír, who goes by the mononym Laufey is a modern jazz musician. She’s originally from Iceland, but is now based in Los Angeles, and is a graduate of the Berklee College of Music. We’ve covered the artist a few times on Indie Light and you can click here to read more. Today, though, I’ll be reviewing their single ‘Love To Keep Me Warm’ which was released December 3rd 2021.
‘Love To Keep Me Warm (ft. Dodie)’ opens with beautiful swelling piano chords that lead us into an almost jaunty melody, Dodie takes the lead vocally off the bat, her voice melds well with the rhythmic beat of the track, the instrumentals building richly behind her. Laufey has a slightly deeper vocal range but honestly their vocal style and range both compliment and play off one another extremely well. As much as two beautiful voices do anyway. Overall I really liked this track, I’m more partial to melancholic songs but this is hopeful and sweet and they both perform it well.
So that’s what I thought of Laufey’s single ‘Love To Keep Me Warm’ and if you want to check that out for yourself then head on over to Spotify. While you’re at it, make sure and check out her website, and don’t forget to support the artist by Following them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
