Laufey Lín Jónsdottír, more commonly known as just Laufey, is an Icelandic singer/songwriter and musician, who as performed as part of the Iceland Symphony Orchestra. She is currently based in Los Angeles, and much like a few of the other people to be featured on Indie Light, she is a graduate of the prestigious Berklee College of Music. We’ve also reviewed Laufey a few times before on the site, and you can click here to read more. Today, though, I’ll be reviewing their single ‘Let You Break My Heart Again’ which was released August 13th 2021.
‘Let You Break My Heart Again’ opens soft and slow, a melancholic string melody flowing into Laufey’s transcendent vocals. I already knew I liked their music, but seriously when you listen to it you’re dropped into a pure and beautiful dreamscape. She captures the vocal sincerity and beauty of sensational and timeless classics like Audrey Hepburn’s rendition of Moon River in Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Laufey is truly spectacular and I’m super excited to spend the next few days revisiting their music on the lead up to their most recent release. I honestly was so captivated by their vocals I didn’t even really mention the instrumentals, and that’s a mistake because there’s a nice solid mix of things happening, all to create a rich backdrop to a compelling performance.
So that’s what I thought of Laufey’s single ‘Let You Break My Heart Again’ and if you want to check that out for yourself then head on over to Spotify. While you’re at it, make sure and check out her website, and don’t forget to support the artist by Following them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
