Arden Cho is an incredibly talented actress and musician, probably most well known for her roles on Teen Wolf and Chicago Med. We’ve covered Arden a few times before on Indie Light, and you can click here to read more. Today, though, I’m eager to share my review of Arden’s cover of ‘How He Loves’ by the David Crowder Band which was released to her YouTube channel on April 17th 2022.

‘How He Loves’ opens with deep, lasting piano chords, that lead us into Arden’s vocals, and I love how stripped back it is, even with the addition of the violin and the guitar, it never seems too busy, instead they serve to support this pure and emotional performance. I want to especially comment on how talented Daniel Jang is as an instrumentalist and musician. Okay now, the track itself has religious themes throughout, in fact the original artist said it is “It’s a celebration of a God” and as someone who has a complicated relationship with his own faith, it’s only in beautiful and touching performances like this one where I’m truly reminded of God’s grace. Arden tackles this song beautifully, her voice mature and resonant, clear and passionate and absolutely breath-taking. I’ve been going through a hard time of late, and even though it was only released on Sunday, I’m already sure I’ll be listening to this song a lot to provide an emotional catharsis.
