Skyhill are an electronic/synth duo, originally from Brooklyn, formed by Peter Lennox on Guitar and Dan Avidan on Vocals. We’ve covered the band a couple times on Indie Light, and you can click here to read more. Today, though, I’ll be reviewing their single ‘Firefly’ which was released October 7th 2015.

‘Firefly’ opens with a synthy, percussive driven beat that flows forward right into Avidan’s vocals, which seem perfectly suited to the overall melody. Dan’s own softer tones, euphonious and soulful, really come together really well against the punchy backing instrumentals. I’ve seen others comment on growth in terms of quality and depth between this and the entries in their debut album, and while I can see an improvement that happens to anyone with more experience, I felt that their original album went from strength to strength, and this only improves upon that.

So that’s what I thought of Skyhill’s single ‘Firefly’ and if you want to check that out for yourself then head on over to Spotify. Also make sure and check out their website for more information on the band, and any future releases.
