Vanessa Morgan is a Canadian actress, singer/songwriter and musician, probably most well known for her role as Amanda Pierce on The Latest Buzz, Sarah in the Disney channel series My Babysitter’s a Vampire (as well as the TV movie of the same name) and most recently, as Toni Topaz on the CW series, Riverdale. In addition to her career as a solo artist, which we’ll be expanding upon more in a moment, she’s also in a band called These Girls These Boys with her Riverdale co-star Drew Ray Tanner. Anyway, returning to today I’ll be reviewing her single ‘Be My Joker’ which was released January 26th 2018.
‘Be My Joker’ opens with striking piano chords that meld with Vanessa’s deep, soft and sultry vocals which just take you somewhere. This song is gentle, and yet you just feel a wash of emotion as Morgan sings. The piano, simple and understated, is the perfect accompaniment to her voice, it lifts it even higher and creates something that I was truly grateful to hear.
