Untold Poet is an Essex-born spoken word poet, rapper and musician. We’ve covered the artist before on Indie Light, back when our freelance contributor Jack Kirby reviewed him earlier this year. If you’re interested in check that out you can click here to read more. Today, though, I’ll be reviewing his single ‘Harvey Dent’ which was released April 23rd 2021.

‘Harvey Dent’ opens with piano music, distorted and blended, and then Untold Poet explodes forward with a hard rap line, but one with melody and true style to the delivery. I like the percussive undertone, it adds broader and subtle depth to the softer musical backdrop. Untold Poet has a nice voice as well, it’s not absolutely required for a rap artist, often the music, and the rhythm are of more importance than vocal quality, but Untold Poet finds a balance between lyricist and vocalist. Also this track is really catchy, I found myself humming the tune a few days after first hearing it, which is what inspired me to go ahead and review it.

So that’s what I thought of Untold Poet’s single ‘Harvey Dent’ and if you want to check that out for yourself then head on over to Spotify. While you’re at it, make sure and support the artist by following them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
