Nelson Sobral is a singer/songwriter and musician from Toronto, Canada who performs a mix of country, northern soul and urban blues. Today, I’ll be reviewing his single ‘In The Middle Of The Night’ which was released July 30th 2021.
‘In The Middle Of The Night’ opens with a quite jaunty, guitar and percussion driven melody, it has a lot of energy, fast paced and lively in a way that would make it spectacular performed live. You can feel the various music styles which inspired this, and yet feel the fresh vibe and energy which Nelson brings to it. His voice is just perfectly suited to this type of bluesy country music, he has real depth to his voice and manages to really inject raw feeling into his performance. The instrumental sections, especially the guitars towards the end were magnificent, but overall this track was a real highlight of my day, it is certainly a track I’ll be listening to more than once for sure.
