EB is the performing name of Oxford based singer/songwriter and musician Emily-Beth Hill. This isn’t the only time we’ve covered the artist either, and you can click here to read more. Today, I’ll be reviewing her single ‘Sweet Girl’ which was released May 28th 2021.
‘Sweet Girl’ opens with a warm, rising melody that flows wonderfully into EB’s synthy vocals and you just get kind of lost in them. A percussive beat, with a really subtle piano trill, supports an extended and more natural vocal section, which of course merges back into the synthy vocals for the chorus. I am kind of obsessed with this track now, it’s not catchy in the generic pop kind of way, but it has a way of just sticking in your head. A personal highlight of the track for me was towards the end where EB adopted a fast delivery style, backed up by percussion and strings before slowing and going out on one long sustained note. This is a track with superb composition that just really works for me.
So that’s what I thought of EB’s single ‘Sweet Girl’ and if you want to check that out for yourself then head on over to Spotify. While you’re at it, make sure and support the artist by subscribing to their YouTube and Patreon, and by following them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
