Arden Cho is an actress, model and musician, born in Amarillo, Texas to Korean-American parents. She has featured in numerous projects over the years, such as playing Kira Yukimura on the MTV supernatural teen drama Teen Wolf, or as Emily Choi on Chicago Med. She recently featured as the main character, Ingrid Yun on the Netflix series, Partner Track, which was adapted from a book of the same name. I’m going to be talking about her music career in a moment, and this isn’t the first time I’ve covered the artist either, you can click here to read more. Today, though, I’ll be reviewing her single ‘Bubblegum’ which was released May 19th 2021.
‘Bubblegum’ opens with a building note, almost like an inhale before merging into vocals backed up by some nice , percussive driven instrumentals. I liked this track a lot, Arden’s voice is just a treat, dreamy and deep, and perfectly balanced out against the harder edge of the backing track. I’m a big fan of tracks like this which have an almost dream-like quality to the melody, it’s hard to define but it builds a nice atmosphere and flows really well throughout. Having listened to various tracks from the artist over the past couple of days it’s been really nice to hear the diversity, range and evolution of her music. I strongly think this track and her music will not be ephemeral, the definition for which I learned from my good (fictional) friend Scott McCall.
So that’s what I thought of Arden Cho’s single ‘Bubblegum’ and if you want to check that out for yourself then head on over to Spotify. While you are at it, make sure and support the artist by following them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and by subscribing to their YouTube channel.
