Just Costa are a sibling pop/R&B duo from Montreal, in the province of Quebec, Canada. Today I’ll be reviewing their single ‘514’ which is a loving tribute to their home city of Montreal, and was released November 20th 2020.
‘514’ opens with a vibrant, funky synth based intro that flows perfectly into the joint vocals of the brother and sister duo. I love the upbeat energy, it has a real swing and a nice heavier beat overlaid over the top that just really works. I like the almost frenzied electronic sections, counterpointed by the vocal solos, each of which work together and build a rich and engaging melody. I haven’t heard of Just Costa before I received their email but after this track I will be sure to keep an eye out for them in the future.
