Erotic Secrets of Pompeii are a post punk experimental art rock group from Bristol. I’ve had the pleasure of covering them on Indie Light more than once and you can click here to check that out. Today, though, I’ll be reviewing their single ‘They Wouldn’t Let Me Write My Book’ which was released June 26th 2020.

‘They Wouldn’t Let Me Write My Book’ just hammers forward from the get go, powerful, gritty driving percussion and hard, heavy vocals that just match up perfectly. This song just kicks you square in the teeth and makes you take notice. I liked the intro section and how it changes up and becomes faster as the track progresses. There are some truly intense and impressive guitar and drum sections, I cannot even honestly point to anything specific, all I can say is I was just blown away by the track, it’s all intensity and power but it’s also a wee bit whimsical and I am definitely checking this band out again in the future.

So that’s what I thought of Erotic Secrets of Pompeii’s single ‘They Wouldn’t Let Me Write My Book’ and if you want to check that out for yourself then head on over to Spotify. Make sure and support the band by following them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
