Fell Sons are an alternative rock band from Merseyside, and this isn’t the first time I’ve reviewed them either, you can click here to read more. I’ve also reviewed the frontman Al Sy’s solo project I hit Ignition and you can check that out by clicking here. Today, though, I’ll be reviewing their single ‘Cut & Run’ which was released November 1st 2019.
‘Cut & Run’ opens with a smashing guitar fill, that leads into the vocals quite nicely, bridged by a wee bit of subtle percussion. I spent a good while trying to put into words how I felt about this track, and firstly and most easy to put into words, I really enjoyed it. It has this very interesting melody that merges blues, old style country (think westerns) and an almost funeral dirge type of tune. That might not sound good, but trust me it is, it takes all those disparate elements and creates something that’s well composed, memorable and hits you really hard. I mean I found myself thinking about this track for days after I first heard it.
So that’s what I thought of Fell Sons single ‘Cut & Run’ and if you want to check that out for yourself then head on over to Spotify. Make sure and support the band by following them on Facebook and Twitter.
