Laufey is a singer/songwriter and cellist from Iceland. She’s incredibly talented, and you can click here to read more coverage of her on the site. Today, though, I’ll be reviewing her single ‘Someone New’ which was released May 25th 2020.

‘Someone New’ opens with an acoustic guitar, and you can hear the subtle hissing that reminds me of old movies, intentional or not. I really liked it. It adds a richness to the audio and is subtle enough not to be intrusive. Again I am blown away by Laufey’s voice, she is a truly amazing vocal talent. This track is a little busier than the last, more pronounced percussion, occasional notes from a piano and others all blending together in a fusion of wonderful notes that result in a really strong follow-up to a debut single.
