Beth Macari is a truly sensational Newcastle based singer/songwriter and musician. This isn’t my first time reviewing the artist either, and you can click here to read more. Today, though, I’ll be reviewing their single ‘You Made My Baby Cry’ which is part 2 of her five part musical project, and was released May 8th 2020.

‘You Made My Baby Cry’ opens with a more percussive intro, no speech this time, but again I’m just blown away by Macari’s voice, she manages to say so much with each note. This track has a very different feel to the previous entry in the project, it’s more confrontational. I get real Amy Winehouse vibes from this track, something about the melody and Beth’s voice really remind me of her. Despite being tonally different, it has an internal consistency that links the tracks, that and visually they are both similar, Beth is even wearing another gorgeous red outfit, albeit a very different style. That in fact sums up the two tracks together, they have surface level things in common, but both achieve and set out to do two different things, both however are incredible pieces of music.

So that’s what I thought of Beth Macari’s single ‘You Made My Baby Cry’ and if you want to check that out for yourself then head on over to YouTube. After you’ve done that make sure and support the artist by following them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
