Dullards are a British 60s/70s glam rock/power pop duo made up of Roger Heathers and George Pilgrem. Today I’ll be reviewing their debut singles ‘Unlucky 4 U’ and ‘Grand Pier’ which were released April 29th 2020.

‘Unlucky 4 U’ opens with a fast, jaunty little beat that had me hooked instantly, I also adored the vocals, I love the quirky, soft voices, it juxtaposes the instrumental opening well and you kind of get taken in by it, the band mentioned in their initial message they are inspired by the 60s and 70s and that really comes through, but it doesn’t just feel like an homage, but instead like the product of someone who really understood the spirit and sensibilities of that era of music. 

‘Grand Pier’ also drew me in quickly, first off and hopefully someone else will hear it, but the core melody reminded me of the theme song from Heartbeat the old police drama on ITV. But anyway that aside because no doubt my ear is just busted I just love the flow of this song. They vocals and the instrumental sections both really harken back to wholesome themes from decades past, it really worked for me, and I’ll definitely be keeping an eye on Dullards in the future.
