Arden Cho is an American actress, singer/songwriter and model from Amarillo, Texas. I associate her most with her role on Teen Wolf where she played Kira Yukimura, a Kitsune, who appeared on the show from season 3 until season 5. Since then I’ve become a big fan, in fact I was massively excited for Arden to star as the main character in her own show, namely Partner Track, which I reviewed and you can click here if you’re interested in checking it out. However her acting talents are far from her only skillset, she has a thriving music career, and you can click here to read my reviews of some of her releases. Today, though, I’ll be reviewing her debut single ‘I’m Just a Girl’ which was released February 25th 2011
‘I’m Just a Girl’ opens with light, jangling chords that set a nice atmosphere, before breaking into a gentle acoustic guitar that blends perfectly with Arden’s voice. I’ll be honest, I wasn’t really sure what to expect but she’s a superb vocalist, she brings a great energy to the track and you feel the emotion shift and develop as the song continues, even without watching the music video, although I suggest you do you really get a feel for the narrative. My favourite part was the last little rendition of the chorus. It felt less polished than the rest of the song and just a little bit more honest because of it. All in all though it was a really strong first track.
So that’s what I thought of Arden Cho’s debut single ‘I’m Just a Girl’ and if you want to check that out for yourself then head on over to Spotify. You can also follow Arden over on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
