SPIRITBOX are a five piece Indie/alternative rock outfit from Breda, The Netherlands made up of Nick van Eekelen on electric & acoustic guitars, Ruben Schimmel on electric & acoustic guitars/backings, Jasper Janssens on Bass/Backings, Hans Meertens on Vocals/Keys/Percussion and Tom Damen on Drums/Percussion. This isn’t my only time reviewing the band either, and you can check that out by clicking here. Today, though, I’ll be reviewing their latest release ‘Doris’ which came out on the 22nd March 2019.
‘Doris’ gave me chills, the vocals are just superb, backed up by some subtle, well utilised instrumentals that build gracefully but never overtake or overpower the vocals. Since first hearing this I’ve listened to it pretty regularly and it’s easily become one of my favourite songs we’ve ever been submitted here at Indie Light. It’s just this nice mix of pure, emotive vocals and a melody that ambiently serves to build on the strong feelings generated by the track, but also work separately to create a truly superior track.
So that’s what I thought of SPIRITBOX and their single ‘Doris’ if you want to check that out then you can by going to YouTube. Make sure to also support the band by following them on Facebook and Twitter or visit their website.
