The SoapGirls are a punk/rock duo from South Africa made up of two sisters, called Camille and Noemie Debray (Mille & Mie) who handle Bass/Vocals and Guitar/Vocals respectively. I first came across The SoapGirls when I read an article about them having fake blood thrown on them during a gig. I was outraged by people judging them based on aesthetics and faulty opinions so I decided to do what I do best and show support for the group, and there’s plenty to appreciate as they have such a raw talent, a unique flair and style and most importantly they are committed to developing as musicians and performers. I was lucky enough to get an interview with them and if you’re interested you can check that out here. This also isn’t the only time I’ve reviewed the band either, and if you want to check that out then click here. Today, I’ll be reviewing their single ‘Sour’ which was released January 1st 2011.

‘Sour’ has a powerful synth driven open, a lot of energy and rhythm, it’s quite engaging, and yet despite a hammering instrumental backing, the vocals are clear and the lyrics are catchy. It’s a really enjoyable track, it’s one of those ones that just gets stuck in your head and despite feeling a little commercial it’s a really good track.

So that’s what I thought of The SoapGirls single ‘Sour’ and if you want to check that out for yourself then head on over to Spotify. While you’re at it, make sure and support the band by following them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram or by visiting their website.
