Static Satellites are a 4-piece indie rock band from Glasgow/West Lothian made up of Ross Whelan on Vocals/Guitar, Ally Taylor on Lead Guitar, Sam Carlyle on Bass and Ciaran Boyle on Drums. Also this isn’t my first time reviewing the band and you can click here and here to check that out. Today, however, I’ll be reviewing their latest single ‘Spin’ which was released May 10th 2019. 

‘Spin’ jumps right in with a quirky formation of instruments that blend well with the distinctly Scottish vocals, This track has energy without being too fast paced, something that is easy to follow along with, and appreciate more because of it. Saying that it does pick up a little after the chorus, but the vocals match up well, and even kind of reign in the instrumental sections, always keeping them at a similar intensity. Speaking of which, I described the instrumentals as a little quirky up top, and I stand by that, but I also want to make it clear that firstly it was a compliment and also exactly what I meant by that, and simply put I review a lot of music, a lot of folk indie and rock in particular and I can say honestly that this doesn’t sound too similar to anything I’ve heard before, its fresh and has its own distinct quality to it, not to mention it’s also of a high technical quality to boot.
