Steve Hewitt is an alternative folk rock singer/songwriter and musician from Kent. Today I’ll be reviewing some selected tracks from his album ‘Bigger Than Words’ which was released April 26th 2019.

‘Pieces’ opens with an easy going guitar section, that merges well with his vocals, and I’m sure I said this in my previous review but Hewitt’s voice is superb, it has a strong cadence and a vibe that works especially well for this type of song. I was uniquely impressed by this track, especially watching the music video alongside it, you get such a strong impression from it, it’s clearly a very emotional track, and an expertly performed on at that, but it’s also not afraid to be a little bit silly, it’s taking a look at all the trials and tribulations of life, and it was just a treat to be able to listen to/watch.

‘Move On’ starts with a faster intro than the previous track, but its still jam packed with this bittersweet energy that’s both appealing to the listener as much as it resonates with every loss and recovery they’ve faced in life. ‘Move On’ should really be your anthem for getting back up and celebrating the good times and what you’ve still got.

‘Healing & Hurt’ has a nice melodious intro, light guitar strings that manage to be both melancholic and hopeful in equal measure. This track was my first exposure to Steve Hewitt and I already know I’m going to like his music. That’s especially true once he stars singing, he has a strong voice, and he knows how to use it. If I leave you with any overwhelming opinion throughout this review make sure its this “Get this track…you won’t regret it”.

‘Holding Me Back’ is another experience, I’ve listened to a lot of music over the past two years or so while doing these reviews, and I’ve heard a lot of bands/musicians can can evoke a reaction but what’s a lot harder is to really tell a story with your music, Steve Hewitt manages to do both. Of the three tracks I got to review today I think this one has the best vocal sections, but each has managed to do something different and impress me in a different way.
